Former Illinois car. condition: excellent. odometer: 47041. title status: clean. transmission: manual. it was purchased new by a Ferrari collector. And, after 20 years in his collection with limited use and with only 42K miles, the car was placed in climate-controlled long-term storage with the intent of passing it on to his infant son. It remained in storage for 17 years. When removed, the car was turned over to Autosprint Giovanni D’Avola, a high-end Italian specialty shop, for a complete reconditioning in anticipation of passing it on to his now teen-aged son. The work performed by Giovani included a complete engine rebuild (pistons, rings, valves, etc), clutch, transmission, brakes, fuel system, shocks, etc. as well as a respray in its original color. When the work was completed, the Spider was presented to his son, unfortunately, his son wasn’t comfortable driving the car due to its manual transmission, so the original owner decided to sell the car. Because the car was such an exceptional, low mileage, rust-free and accident-free example, Giovanni bought the car and owned it for a couple of years before passing it on to one of his customers in 2014. During the third ownership, Giovanni continued to service the vehicle where he installed a Petronix ignition, a 65 amp alternator, new fuel pump, a new timing belt, 3-point seat belts, a new battery, etc. I purchased the car from the 3rd owner and have continued to service the car and have just reupholstered the seats and installed a new convertible top. As a 1974 model, this Fiat 124 Spider has the desirable, last generation, most powerful, pre-emission controlled 1800 series engine, which also has the more desirable chrome bumpers…and has only 47,041 original pampered miles! The paint is beautiful as it was resprayed just 5K miles ago in its original and arguably the best 1970's-era, eye-popping color combination of Amaranth (maroon) over Chamois (tan). This low mileage, rust-free, accident-free, unmolested 124 Spider presents beautifully and is mechanically excellent. It has its original, rebuilt, numbers-matching double-overhead cam engine which runs cool, has great compression as well as oil pressure and is mated to the rebuilt, fully-synchronize 5-speed manual gearbox. It has newer 165HR13 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires mounted on the original steel wheels with the original Fiat “dog-dish” style hub caps. It comes with a convertible top boot cover, floor mats, 3-point seat belts, original jack & tools, spare tire, owner’s manual, a file of receipts and two sets of keys. The chrome is bright, the glass is clear, the interior, gauges (except for the clock), lights, turn-signals, wipers, are all in great condition for this 48-year old classic. It comes with a clean/clear title and as a 1974, it is California smog-exempt. For sale.
