First entry 07/1999: 185k miles, almost rust free, for sale: $850. Update 04/2023: New owner. Former California car. Miles: 90772. Transmission: Manual. Title: Clear. Aloha, welcome to my auction for this wonderful 1978 Fiat Spyder 1800. Here is the history on this car. I bought car about 4 years ago from a gentleman who lived in a small town about 50 miles outside of Sacremento Ca. spent its entire life in a dry, low humidity envirement. There is no problem with rust on this car. I live in Kula 4000 feet above sea level here on Maui and is very dry. The previous owner put a new centerforce clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing in the car right before I bought it from him. He also rebuilt the front end, new idler bushings, front ball joints etc...etc.... Car ran great when I bought it but the paint and enterior and top were lacking. it had NO RUST. and was straight. I tore the entire car apart. Took out the entire interior, took off the front and decklids and the front cowl. Removed all the rubber. Then painted the car back the original RED color. Paint real good 5 footer. There is some checking in the rear deck lid. Camera wouldn't pick it up. But the paint looks and has lots of shine and is smooth. I did color sand and buff the paint so it is very nice. Just not Show. There "Peel" at all and the rear deck lid could be color sanded and buffed again I am sure. I put alot of paint on this Because of the single carb configuration and the smog equipment these poor cars suffered in the get up and department. I junked the smog stuff put on headers and a straight exhaust with a minimum restriction muffler, the piece de resistaunce added the twin 40mm Weber downdrafts. I bought this set of Carbs and the manifold 1750 right here on E-Bay. He hails from Italy. This set up came right off a Euro-Spec car from europe. Many down draft set-ups you see are after market and are not jetted properly. This set-up is spot on and makes the way the factory intended. The set came with two factroy weber rebuild kits which I installed. The carbs are balanced and the car idles nicely. Now this car can at least get out of its own way. Actually it goes pretty well pull to redline and beyond. The miles are correct. I suspect that this car has had a valve job somewhere along but I don't think the motor has had a bottom end job. I did the interior, New seat covers, front and rear. They fabulous. The fronts have had nice sheepskins on them since I redid them and have never been sat on. The carpets new also and have never had feet on them. I put in extra carpet over the replacement carpet to keep them new. thick underlayment under the carpet to act as a sound deadener. The dash I made of Koa Wood, a local hardwood in Hawaii that I am sure a lot of you will be familiar with. Very beautiful. The car has 4 brand new tires. The the gold centers look very nice. The car only has about 1000 miles if that since I redid it 4 years ago. I drive sparingly and start it about 2-3 times a month to keep it fresh. I did the timing belt , water pump, radiator, hoses drive belt. I installed a rebuilt pumpkin (rear end assembly). These cars tend to howl in the rear end when they kind of miles on them. Also put in new rear end bearings at the same time. I also put all new fuel lines in the with a new fuel pump. I would have no problem driving this car across the country . It is cold blooded and the need to warm up a bit before it really hits its stride. I do not have the choke hooked up and that would help if a cold climate. I have kept the car garaged and covered since the restoation. The chrome and stainless on this good. Transmission shifts nice and has no issues. It getting hard to find these cars without rust. The top is a brand stayfast canvas and is very nice. The radio is the original fiat optional AM-FM unit and it works. The speakers the kick panels and are moderen units. About the only thing in the interior that needs attention is the center console. patched it up, but it has the typical splits from age. All the gauges work. Windshield wiper squirter does not. work and the car has passed the safety inspection that they give here every year. I have a couple of interesting will be made to the winning bidder at a very reasonable price if they are interested. I have the ultra rare Tutrtle Filter Housing for the Webers. The one that came on these cars that stayed in Europe. Very hard to find and to find in the condition of the one that I have. I also have a set of pre-Nader bumpers both front and rear, clean chrome ones. They need to be redone but they are staight and not rusted thru. I also have a set of front competition springs and shocks. This set will lower the care 2 inches and make it handle better. Again these not included with the car, but will be made available to the winning bidder. If he or she is not interested they for auction soon. Shipping to L.A. Seattle, Portland or Oakland will run about 900.00. I will drop off at the Matson Docks here for the new owner. My reserve is very fair I feel even with the extra cost to ship this car. Auctioned at Ebay in 07/2005.
