I am the second owner of this solid 1980 Spider 2000 from FIAT with Azure Blue exterior paint and clear coat, tan vinyl top, and tan vinyl interior. This car came off the production line in November 1979 and was first purchased by a married couple in Dallas, Texas on August 15,1980 with 45 miles on ist odometer. I purchased the car from them in 1993 with 53,000 miles following extensive comparison shopping and research. It had a solid body structure free of rust, and was mechanically well maintained. I had a professional replace the timing belt at 54,000 miles. Then I replaced ignition components (wires, distributor cap and rotor), rebuilt nearly the entire brake system because seals and hoses were showing signs of dry-rot, replaced the water pump and thermostat, replaced the fuel injectors and hoses, added a performance Ansa exhaust, hand-cleaned the engine, replaced the windshield washer bottle and motor etc. In 1997, 17 years of life had taken its toll on the finish and I had the car repainted to restore the original Azure blue beauty. The Automobiles Current Condition: Mechanically, the car is in terrific operating order. Suspension, steering, brakes are all in very good condition. The engine and transmission run smoothly. The engine has always had a minor oil leak at the head gasket for the #4 cylinder. All electronics are in good working order. The chrome is in good shape. The body and undercarriage of this car is completely solid thanks to the original owners desire to undercoat the carand proof of ist life sheltered in a garage. To say there is no rust on any car is a bit misleading. The floorboards, wheel wells, strut towers are all entirely rust free. Auctioned at Ebay in 04/2006 for: US $4,750.00 Reserve not met.
