Seit Start des weltweiten Registers sind inzwischen fast 25.000 Fahrzeuge dokumentiert. Leider sind die Fahrzeugdaten nicht immer vollständig, so dass manchmal beim Baujahr nur eine ungefähre Angabe gemacht werden kann. Gerade für die amerikanischen Spider ist aber aufgrund der Herstellungsplakette auf Fahrerseite eine genaue Angabe in der Form mm/jj verfügbar. Insgesamt haben über 4.000 Spider diese Angabe in der vollständigen Form des Baujahrs+Monat.

Auf dieser Basis habe ich mich entschlossen - sofern möglich - für die anderen Spider diese Angabe selbst zu ermitteln. Damit konnte ich für über 15.000 Spider das Herstellungsdatum (mm/jj) festlegen mit einer Unschärfe von plus/minus 1 Monat.  Die Unschärfe ist im Herstellungsprozess begründet bzw. der Qualitätssicherung aufgrund von erforderlichen Nacharbeiten.

Für gewisse Zeitfenster in der Herstellung lagen leider nicht genug exakte Angaben vor, da entweder zu wenig Fahrzeugdaten vorliegen (alle AS) oder teilweise noch keine US-Fahrzeuge produziert worden waren (frühe AS und Pininfarina DS). Damit kann zumindest festgehalten werden: Folgende Fahrzeugidentnummern wurden zu Beginn eines Kalenderjahres produziert:

Neben dem häufigen Ferienmonat August gibt es weitere Monate, in denen die Produktion des Fiat Spider ruhte, vor allem in der Verantwortung von Pininfarina! Und Streiks führten Anfang der 70er Jahre zur Verringerung der Produktion (übrigens auch zum Verkauf der Marke Abarth an den FIAT Konzern).

Spitzenreiter in der Produktion ist der Monat 07/1980! Die aus der Produktion entnommenen Fahrzeuge für die Sonderserie zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum von Pininfarina wurden größtenteils auf das Datum 07/1980 datiert! Der letzte Ausschlag in der Statistik in 07/85 war nicht einem letzten Aufbäumen in der Produktion geschuldet, sondern dem verkündeten Produktionsende zu Ende Juli 1985. Inzwischen wissen wir, dass die Spider Produktion noch mindestens bis September 1985 lief.

Lt. großem Fiat Spider Buch wurden Spitzenwerte von bis zu 80 produzierten Fahrzeugen pro Tag in den Jahren 1974/75 und 1979 gezählt.

Damit bietet das Spider Register erstmals die Möglichkeit, realistisch das Herstellungsjahr mit Monat für Euren Spider herauszufinden, auch wenn es kein US-Modell oder die Herstellerplakette an der B-Säule der Fahrertür fehlt.

Falls Ihr dazu beitragen könnt, die Löcher in der Statistik (s.o.) zu schließen, dann nehme ich gerne Eure Informationen und/oder Beweisbilder an. Oder überprüfe einfach deine hinzugefügten Autodaten und lass mich das Datum korrigieren! Vielen Dank dafür!

Since the start of the worldwide register, almost 25,000 vehicles have now been documented. Unfortunately, the vehicle data is not always complete, so sometimes only an approximate year of manufacture can be given. However, for the American Spiders, a precise indication in the form mm/yy is available due to the manufacturer plate on the driver's side. In total, over 4,000 Spiders have this information in the full form of year+month.

On this basis, I have decided—where possible—to determine this information myself for the other Spiders. This allowed me to define the manufacturing date for over 15,000 Spiders with an uncertainty of plus/minus 1 month. The uncertainty is due to the manufacturing process or quality assurance due to necessary rework.

For certain time windows in production, unfortunately, not enough precise information was available, either because too few vehicle data were available (all AS) or because no US vehicles had yet been produced (early AS and Pininfarina DS). At least it can be noted that the following vehicle identification numbers were produced at the beginning of a calendar year:

In addition to the common vacation month of August, there are other months in which the production of the Fiat Spider was halted, especially under the responsibility of Pininfarina! And strikes in the early 70s led to a reduction in production (by the way, also to the sale of the Abarth brand to the FIAT group).

The top month in production is 07/1980! The vehicles taken from production for the special edition for Pininfarina's 50th anniversary were mostly dated 07/1980! According to the large Fiat Spider book, peak values of up to 80 vehicles produced per day were counted in the years 1974/75 and 1979.
The last spike in the statistics in 07/85 was not due to a final surge in production, but to the announced end of production at the end of July 1985. Meanwhile, we know that Spider production continued at least until September 1985.

Thus, the Spider Register offers for the first time the possibility to realistically find out the production year with month for your Spider, even if it is not a US model or the manufacturer’s plate on the B-pillar of the driver’s door is missing. If you can help to fill in the gaps in the statistics (see above), I will gladly accept your information and/or evidence photos. Or just check your added car data and let me correct the date!
